The Lodge Trust exists to make a Christian provision for adults with learning disabilities and is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care (but does not provide nursing care).

Our residential site comprises 4 houses and 12 independent living flats for a total of 30 residents. It is located on a 20-acre site in the beautiful Rutland village of Market Overton in central England. We also offer opportunities for Work & Education Services to others in the community.

Statement of Purpose

To provide support for individuals to access work, education and leisure activities which are meaningful, valued and purposefully developing and maintaining their skills.

Mission Statement - Aims/Objectives

How we do this

  • We offer different workshops and activities for you to choose which suits you.
  • We can produce a personal timetable of how you choose to spend your time with us.
  • We have a Link Worker who you will have time to talk with you about your placement and how it is going.
  • We also have a monthly Forum for you to voice your thoughts and opinions on our service.
  • We have trained and qualified staff who can access training.
  • We are constantly listening to what our service users want, so we can improve the sessions and activities.
  • All service users will have an Individual Learning Plan, where we identify what you want to achieve.

We enjoy celebrating your achievements during a certificate ceremony once a year. Information about the service What are the work teams? Here is a selection of what we do in these teams. Craft - card making, sewing aprons, bags, napkins, glasses/mobile phone cases, hair bands, knitting and crochet, painting Silk Scarves, mosaic pictures, produce notebooks, paper mache.

Woodwork - chopping boards, bird boxes, produce wooden games and puzzles, chop and bag firewood for local people, assemble compost bins and paint them.

Gardens - grow and harvest lots of different fruits and vegetables, weeding and digging, potting up plants, feed the beds with compost, watering (during the warmer months). Grounds - mow the lawns, trim hedges, bushes and trees, rake leaves, edge the lawns.

Laundry - wash and tumble-dry clothes, hang washing outside on the lines, sort and fold clothing, ironing. Kitchen - prepare the main meal at lunchtime, set places in the dining room, wash the pots, clean and tidy the kitchen.

Cleaning - keep the site clean and tidy by vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the toilets and work areas.

Country Cafe - serving customers, set up the cafe each morning, replenish retail displays, help prepare food for customers, serve customers at the till. What activities do we provide?

Horse Riding - most weeks we go horse riding; we take part in Regional competitions and the Special Olympics; during the winter we hold horse care courses; we play games and take part in challenges that improve flexibility and concentration. Sailing - we attend the Sailing Club at Rutland Water and join Sailability (which caters for sailors with disabilities); people can sail as a group or have individual lessons to learn how to sail a boat; during the winter we attend courses and seminars at the sailing club.

Baking - this group enjoys trying out new recipes; we bake treats and make meals for our dinner; we look through cookbooks for recipes that accommodate special diets.

Drama - we enjoy role playing; puppets; drama/music group.

Music - we love singing and learning songs; we have some instruments to play; we enjoy dancing and use music to help us relax.

Railway Volunteering - we help with gardening and groundwork at Ashwell Railway; there are lots of other opportunities to volunteer e.g. catering, serving customers, giving information to visitors. Explorers - we visit local places of interest, educational/historical/nature and bird reserves.

Current Affairs - this group meets to look through the newspapers to find out what is happening locally and globally; we discuss the issues and interesting articles. Farm Visits - (during summer months) we visit a local farm and take part in activities that stimulate all 5 senses; we learn about animals and farming.

Food Club - we plan the food menu for lunchtime; we learn about food and diet; we taste food and learn about flavour and texture. What Education Services do we offer? Open College Network Courses - we have a wide range of courses available which include things like Writing, Money management, Independent Living Skills, Preparing for work.
