How can I get help?

If you are aged between 12 and 18 years old and have a Nottinghamshire GP, you can self-refer to CAMHS. This means that you can directly approach our team to ask for help. 

Parents and carers

How can we get help?

If you are the parent or carer for a young person aged 0 to 18 years old with a Nottinghamshire GP, you can refer on their behalf to CAMHS. This means that you can directly approach our team to ask for help. You will speak to a specially trained professional who will ask you some questions and talk to you about how they can help.

Referrals can also be made by Children and Young People’s Services, school nurses/schools and other professionals. All referrals are read daily and the decision whether or not a CAMHS appointment is appropriate will be made.

Description

We provide a service to children and young people, aged 0-18 years, who may be experiencing a range of severe and complex difficulties with their emotional and mental health.

The types of difficulties we see can include:

 - Depression (moderate to severe)
 - Anxiety disorders.
 - Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder (OCD)
 - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) (psychological problems following trauma)
 - Severe attachment, emotional and behavioural disorders.
 - Eating disorders
 - Self Harm
 - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
 - Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
 - Tics and Tourette’s

We work with children, young people and families from all backgrounds. We aim to provide a service which is sensitive to all cultures and respects ethnicity, religion and individual identity.

If you have serious concerns about your mental health or emotional wellbeing, or as a parent/carer you have concerns about your child/young person, please first seek  advice from your GP, who will then refer you to CAMHS if appropriate.
