Worksop Amateur Radio Society
Amateur radio is a hobby for all - it’s fun, sociable and educational. Our Club has over 70 members from age 16 to 80. We are based in Worksop but our membership area has spread to include other areas of Nottinghamshire as well as Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and beyond.
Besides traditional radio there are lots of other areas of interest such as Morse code, amateur satellites, equipment construction, outdoor activities such as ARDF(direction-finding), SOTA (hill walking/climbing combined with portable radio) and if computers are your thing there are Data Modes (radios connected with computers) APRS (mapping, tracking, GPS), SDR, Raspberry PI and Arduino.
Interested? Please contact us or come and visit on a Tuesday night. Come and enjoy an evening using all types of radio equipment and if you like it you can obtain your licence and call sign on one of our club run courses. We have our own tutors at the club.
