Nottingham Macmillan Information and Support Service - Nottingham City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre

The Nottingham Macmillan Information and Support Service, based at both Nottingham City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre provide a free and confidential drop in service to anyone affected by cancer including patients, family, friends, health and social care professionals. The service is staffed by a team of friendly Macmillan Professionals who are here to help you make informed choices or to access other sources of support.

If you or someone close to you is affected by cancer, some of the services we can provide are:

  • Emotional support 
  • Benefits and financial support including applying for benefits and grants
  • Information on specific cancers, treatments and side effects
  • Support for carers including Holistic Needs Assessments which gives carers time to explore your worries with a professional and provide support to find solutions
  • Advice and information on working with a cancer diagnosis
  • Information on local support groups 
  • Information and support to help you to talk to loved ones including children
  • Support for bereaved families

You can access our drop-in services without a referral or appointment, just visit a centre, call, text or email us. So whether you need advice on planning for the future or how to get active or just a chat with someone who understands what you're going through, we are here for you.

QMC Macmillan Information and Support Centre

The Centre is located in East Block, B Floor at QMC opposite the Pharmacy. Our opening hours are:

  • Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm

Nottingham City Hospital Macmillan Information and Support Centre

The centre is located at W4, Ground Floor, South Entrance, Nottingham City Hospital within the Oncology Block. Our opening hours are:

  • Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm

We also have a text messaging service active during our opening hours 07812277944 (please note this is a text messaging service only and calls to this number will not be answered).

Please note that occasionally we have to change our opening hours, so if you are making a special trip we recommend that you call in advance.

Both centres also have a 24 hour answer machine if you want to leave us a message. If any help or advice is needed outside of our opening hours a Cancer Information Specialist can be contacted by calling the Macmillan Support line on 0808 808 0000. This is open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm including bank holidays.
