Beeston And District Civic Society
Thanks for taking an interest in the Beeston & District Civic Society! We are group of like minded people who take a practical interest in Beeston and its district, and do all in our power to make it a fine place in which to live, encouraging the preservation, development, and improvement of amenities, and the appreciation of civic design.
No town stands still. For some people development still means poor quality building, and improvement means car parks and hypermarkets. An individual finds it difficult to influence public decisions. Joining together we keep a close watch on planning applications, and our representations to Borough or County carry more weight as we are wholly independent of political parties, commerce, or social or institutional vested interests.
We hold monthly public meetings through the winter on topical themes, organise guided walks and outings, publish a quarterly newsletter, booklets, and postcards, and represent your views on development and planning matters.
We have worked to institute new conservation areas, saved notable local buildings from needless demolition, argued for action on such things as bottle-banks and re-cycling facilities, and supported better public transport services.
Our members care about Beeston and their common aim is to protect it from mediocre development. By giving their active support, they can get to know what is going on in the town and influence the decision makers in a positive way. If you live or work in Beeston, or simply appreciate our shops and parks, we hope you will seriously consider giving your support to us. The town’s future needs YOUR commitment!
Meetings take place at The Pearson Centre, 2 Nuart Road, Beeston, NG9 2NH.
