Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Council UPDATE BULLETIN – For all health and social care providers – Tuesday 12th October 2021

Dear Providers, the information below contains current and up to date information from our strategic partners for you and your staff:

New and updated guidance and support, including information on funding:

Ageing Well Care Homes Framework - Important Please Read

Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking to establish a framework of experienced providers of care home services (not individual care homes unless the provider operates a single care home only) to offer placements to older individuals, usually aged 65 and over, in CQC registered establishments located in Nottinghamshire (including Nottingham City).

Bidders must have experience of delivering relevant care home services and currently be providing care home services in Nottinghamshire or have appropriate services already in development. It is not the Authority’s intention to encourage the development of additional care home provision through this project.

The tender for this Framework is being run through the ProContract procurement system. For more details and to bid you should go to the website and find project reference DN506252, titled Ageing Well Care Homes Framework.

If your organisation is not already registered as a supplier on ProContract you will need to do this first. We have attached our Supplier Guide which may help you with bidding through the ProContract system.

CCG Quality Concerns Referral Form for Care Home use

Have you experienced issues with a healthcare provider that could not be resolved? Do you have concerns around the quality of care delivery? Please use the Quality Concerns Referral Form attached to inform the Clinical Commissioning Group of your concerns to enable them to identify any themes and trends. This will allow for proactive interventions which will improve care delivery across the system.

Important Capacity Tracker update for Care Home staff regarding COVID exemption self-certification and those vaccinated abroad

Dear Capacity Tracker User,

As you will be aware, DHSC have asked Capacity Tracker to capture additional information for Care Home staff and agency staff regarding COVID exemption self-certification and those staff that have been vaccinated abroad. Details of these changes were first communicated to you via the Capacity Tracker Bulletin sent on 29.09.21. However, due to unforeseen complications and the need to include a count of staff in receipt of a NHS COVID Pass medical, the changes scheduled for the evening of Thursday 7th October have had to be revised to the evening of Monday 11th October 2021. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Government guidance on temporary medical exemptions for COVID-19 vaccination of people working or deployed in Care Homes can be found at

Capacity Tracker guidance on how to complete the new vaccination information will be published shortly within the Resource Centre, What's New Section and a new notification posted on the Capacity Tracker message board when it becomes available.

With kind regards
Capacity Tracker Team on behalf of DHSC

When a resident falls, the information you give to when you call 999 or 111 may affect how urgent it is assessed to be - and so the speed of response.

Before you call think:

Does this resident need an ambulance – is an urgent response required? Could other healthcare services in your usual care home Multi-Disciplinary Team support for what is needed?

If you call think:

  1. Be with the patient throughout the call – information given should be based on what’s happening now so any deterioration can be captured.
  2. Provide as much information as possible as to the circumstances of the fall such as when and how did it happen? How long has the person been on the floor etc?
  3. State any new observations in the residents presentation such as new confusion, pain, limb deformity, bleeding, changed behaviour
  4. Please do not call again unless the patient deteriorates. An ETA cannot be given. The ambulance service will get to you as soon as they can.
