Ashfield is a great place to live and there is a mix of housing available whether you are buying or renting. 

Ashfield and Mansfield Homefinder

Homefinder (external link) is a lettings services giving you greater choice on where you live by helping you search and bid on council and housing association properties in the area. 

You'll need to register to use the site with details of your household and if you're eligible for the housing register you'll then be able to bid on homes. You can bid on 2 properties in each bidding cycle. 

Housing associations

There are a number of housing associations in the area. These are also known as registered providers or registered social landlords. 

They have housing of different types and sizes in the area and many use our Homefinder (external link) lettings service to show available properties. You can also contact them directly and can find links in the related links section of this page. 

Home exchange scheme

Tenants of Ashfield District Council, housing associations, and other councils who want to move may be able to exchange, or swap, homes with another tenant. You can do this even if you don't have the same landlord. Use the Homeswapper website (external link) to find out more and apply for an exchange. 

Private renting

Renting from a private landlord if the fastest way to find a place to live. You'll often be asked to pay a deposit as well as the first month's rent. You can find out how your deposit is protected (external link) on the Gov.UK website. 

You can find places available to rent through estate agents, letting agents, the local press or online listings sites. 

Home ownership and low cost home ownership

There are different schemes available to help people to become homeowners and in Nottinghamshire Help To Buy has been chosen by the government to provide schemes to help people become homeowners. This includes shared ownership, rent to buy, and equity loans. You can find all the information on eligibility and options as well as apply online on the Help To Buy website (external link).
